Northern Frontiers, Northern Homeland:
The Report of the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline Inquiry
Berger Report (1977)
The Mackenzie Valley Pipeline Inquiry, also know as the Berger Inquiry/Report, was commissioned in 1974 by the Government of Canada to investigate the social, economic and environmental impact of a proposed gas pipeline running through the Yukon and Mackenzie River valley of the Northwest Territories.
The commission recommended that no pipeline be built through the northern Yukon and that a pipeline through the Mackenzie River valley should be delayed for at least ten years.
